Montes Joins Distinctive

Industry
veteran Juan Montes has joined Distinctive Developments as a
non-executive director.
Distinctive is one of the few independent studios to survive and
thrive in a consolidating games market. Montes will help the
company plan its strategy to maintain its place in the sector, and
advise on global expansion.
The Sheffield-based developer is one of Europe’s largest indies,
with over 30 staff and offices in the UK and North America. It has
become a trusted studio for major publishers, creating FIFA
Football for EA among others. The studio has also been successful
with its own IP such as 3D Pool.
Juan Montes has a formidable track record in console and mobile
gaming. He was VP of software development for Sony Computer
Entertainment Europe, before joining Motorola in 2000 as CTO and
VP of mobile content. In 2003 he joined mobile games publisher
Jamdat as the European MD.
Nigel Little, MD of Distinctive Developments, said, “Juan is one
of the few people within the industry who grasps the enormous
potential of the market as a whole and can see where it’s all
leading. Distinctive has achieved a great deal in recent years and
we are determined to remain at the forefront of the industry as it

MCV Games Fives |

5-a-side football team, Dist-Devils, entered this year's MCV Games Fives
tournament at Powerleague in Mill Hill, London.
After a disastrous 5-1 defeat against BGS Allstars, the team
improved and suffered narrow defeats to Sony, Traveller's Tales A,
InfoStars and Making Waves, before losing to Traveller's Tales B
in the knockout stage.
Despite the disappointing results, everyone had a great day out
and the Devils are hoping to make amends in next year's
competition. |
